It's been a few years (ah, those were the days) since I've used Bluehost and I don't know if this still applies but here's my review anyways.

I've been running 2 little websites with them on one account, and everything went well while they were little. It was when the total traffic across of them has exceeded 1k unique visitors per day that they have outgrown Bluehost.

Now, keep in mind that they offer unlimited space and bandwidth, so it wasn't an issue of either. The problems is that while they don't limit those resources, they do limit the CPU time for your account. So whenever your site gets too busy, you'd get the ugly "CPU time exceeded" page (or something along those lines). That's understandable though, you can't expect to grow on a simple shared account forever. Nevertheless, I do think they could allow more resources because 1k is not that much traffic and the plan I've moved to on another host was shared as well.

All in all, I would recommend Bluehost as a cheap option to run a small site or two, but keep in mind that if you grow bigger, you will have to move - they don't have any more "roomy" plans either. It's a good way to start as it was for me.

I've been using Hostgator's shared, reseller and dedicated server plans for the past 6 years. The reason why I've stayed with them for so long and why I've used several different plans is because they are, in my opinion, the best host out there.

The uptime was always almost ideal, whenever there were some minor problems they were promptly fixed by the support. I've had several upgrades and moving websites since, and every time everything went smoothly.

So, thumbs up for Hostgator from me.
